Unless otherwise explicitly stated in writing, Abby Malone Photography maintains the copyright to all images taken in any session. All session prices quoted are quoted on the condition of client’s agreement to a model release and acknowledgement that Abby Malone Photography retains copyright to all images.
It is against federal copyright laws to reproduce any physical prints purchased or to use any digital images presented by Abby Malone Photography without explicit written consent.
Understand: A copyright is not the same thing as a print release.
A copyright defines the ownership and all rights of an original work (image). Unless willingly transferred, it belongs to the person who created the image.
A print release is a release given by the copyright holder to another party granting them rights specified in the release. Abby Malone Photography is happy and willing to provide a print release for any high resolution print ready digital files purchased with your session. A print release is what most clients will need, and will grant you the rights to print the images from your session for personal use.
If you have any questions about this, please do not hesitate to ask. Because in this day and age, many part time photographers are quick to give images on a disk, there is often much confusion, questions, etc regarding copyright and print releases. I will be happy to answer any question you have.
